DESIGN AND I.T.
Hello and Welcome
This is a brief introduction to the range of Design and I.T. services that I can offer in addition to my other business activities. I think that an overview of my activities over the last 20 years or so may be a good starting point. If you want to skip this and go to the conclusion click here
In the early 80s I was working as a Design & Development manager in the control electronics industry, when a change of job resulted in me and my family spending some six months living in a rented house in an unfamiliar area of the country. Looking for something to occupy my time I purchased the “latest gadget” a home computer and with guidance and encouragement from a friend who was working in that field, I learned basic programming skills. When we eventually bought a house in the area I upgraded to a more up-to-date PC compatible machine, loaded it with software and learned how to use it. I met up with a guy in the village who worked as a freelance programmer who introduced me to the world of spreadsheets and databases. Because of my electronics background I was soon investing in CAD, PCB layout and graphic design programs. One night after too many bevvies in my local hostelry, it was decided that I should be the editor of a new village newsletter (as I had the computer and the skills needed) so I ventured into the world of desk top publishing.
All this knowledge and experience gelled into a small business venture helping a small local businesses and clubs(of which there were many) producing original artwork for flyers, price lists, auction catalogues, technical manuals, etc. With the purchase of a colour laser printer I was also able to handle short print runs economically. This led to producing presentation-standard documents for small businesses and eventually to training some of those business owners to use a computer to help organise themselves and their business. After my full-time position became redundant I was able to spend more time on these projects as well as working free lance as a computer trainer and venturing into website design.
In 2002 I suffered a stroke, which meant that any work which involved regularly traveling to other people’s premises was impractical, thus I combined my computing skills with my hobby of restoring classic cars (to see the results, click on the link to my main website pages below) more recently I have had the time and, due to some improvement in my health, felt the inclination, to once again get involved with design and IT work for other people.
The design and IT services which I now offer are:
design (and short-run printing if required) of flyers and leaflets
design of presentation documents (eg quotations, mission statements, training, handbooks) for hard-copy or electronic display or for publishing to your intranet.
website design (including e-commerce)
conversion of documents (printed or electronic) to pdf format .                                    Pete Chadbund
